Dave Matthews Band

Jon and I spent last Friday night at a DMB concert...it was awesome! We had lawn seats and I don't know what I liked more...watching the concert or people watching. It was great to get out and about with just my hubs but we did miss our Ellyphant a lot.

Elly's 6th Birthday Party

We celebrated Elly's 6th birthday at our local park. Ever since we've moved to Ohio this park has been our home away from home. Many summer weekend you will find us here, we love it! It was one of the reasons we bought our home where we did.

Presents and cupcakes....mmmm!

Happy Birthday to you! Darn wind kept blowing out the candles before El could. It was quite funny actually. =)

Cupcake attack...

Then all the kids thought it was hilarious to use the frosting as lipstick.

Come on Mommy gimme a kiss....

Ooookay! Smooch!

Jon and I...we shared a cupcake promise. Every now and then you can't resist a pink cupcake!

Aunt Colleen loves cupcakes!

Uncle Brady loves cupcake as well!

Presents!!!

She had a lot of helpers and got such great gifts!!

The aftermath...Andrew really wanted the goody bags...or the cake popsicles (my favorite).

So cute if I do say so myself...Elly decorated.

Nana Joan, Papa Ray and Great Nana Mary came to celebrate.

All her friends...and a new furry friend that she got for her birthday. We had a great day!

And about 1 hour after the party while showing her Aunt and Uncle our town....it got very quiet and someone got very sleepy.

Surprise!

We surprised Elly after dinner with a little mini party at home...balloons, streamers, and a yummy cake. After dinner at her favorite place (Red Robin) Jon and Nana Joan distracted her for an hour-ish while Uncle Brady, Aunt Colleen and I ran home to decorated.Little blurry but doesn't she look excited? Hooooray! Happy Birthday Elly!
Mmmmm confetti strawberry cake! So good! (I still have a little skill from my cake decorating days.)
Yipee!! Every time she sees this commercial (3D sidewalk chalk) she begs, "Mommy I want that! Mommy can I have that please!" So she wished on the Birthday Fairy and *poof* it came!

~My Internet has been down at home, the cable guy is scheduled to come today...please be patient with me...promise to have more pictures soon.

My Little Big Brother

I was very blessed this weekend. My brother and his beauty queen wife drove 13 hours to be with us to celebrate Elly's 6th birthday. I haven't seen my brother in a few years so it was extra special!
It was very hard to say good bye yesterday. We will miss them and their little dog too!

For the Love of Books

My little Elly Bean loves to read! I'm soooooooo excited about this. I was secretly hoping that she would share my passion in reading. For as long as I can remember I've loved to read. I remember my Mom even yelling at me in the middle of the night to turn off my bed lamp and go to bed and I would holler back, "Just one more page!!!"

Now that Elly is getting more into chapter books it's been amazing watching her little brain work. Lately we've been reading Junie B Jones before bed, they still are a little advanced for her to read alone but she knows most of the words. That Junie B Jones though let me tell you...WOW...that girl needs a time out! Feisty little girl!! HA! Elly will tell me after we read a funny part, "Mommy I would never do that."

Whew, good! Happy Wednesday...2 more days until Elly is 6!

Running is Bad for my Pedicure

Never really knew what this shirt meant:
until I became serious about running a half marathon. I've seen this shirt at Jon's races and kinda chuckled but was like okay, weird, gross, ewww, as if.

Well...welll...welllll...I'll spare you the picture of my horrific feet and my ten toes but nine toenails!! GAG! I just got a pedicure too like a month ago. What a waste of money. Hmrph!

But Jon tells me that just makes me a true runner...sob...does he not know me? I want pretty toes in the summer.

And no I did not text people right away that I lost a toenail...I'm way more classy then that.

Elly the Kindergarten Graduate

Well I guess it's official I am now a Mommy to a 1st grader. It's amazing to think how fast this school year has gone. Seems like just yesterday Jon and I were in tears as we dropped her off for her first day and walked hand in hand back to the car, looked at each other and said, "Really?"

Elly's first day...meet and greet.

This picture speaks a thousand words to me...first Elly looks very timid, like who is this lady and why am I posing next to her? Second the way she's holding the crayon.

Last day of school

Now could this picture be any different? Both look very comfortable with each other. Elly is so at ease and excited! I got her a red balloon (school color) for her last day when I went to pick her up (you can see the rid ribbon). Her teacher looks just as excited. We will miss her! We both gave hugs and hurried out to celebrate.

Just a comparison...look how tall Elly has grown.

Because I don't spoil her enough I treated her to ice cream.

Later after Jon got home we went out to dinner at Red Robin...yum. HA! Elly was repeating that all afternoon.

She told EVERYONE that came in contact with us that she was going into first grade and that Mommy got her a red balloon aaaannnnddd ice cream.

Eh you only graduate kindergarten once.
